The state police command announced the arrest in a statement on Sunday evening, saying the notorious cultist and political thug, identified as Onyeaka Odogwu, aged 29 years, was arrested by the Special Anti Cult Squad on October 24.
He was said to be planning alongside other members of the cult group to disrupt the November 8 governorship election in the state before the long arm of the law caught up with him.
During his arrest, the command disclosed that the operatives recovered two pump-action guns, two English made double-barrel guns, three live cartridges, red cloth and regalia bearing cult insignia and three black caps as well as two red caps with inscriptions associated with Vikings Confraternity.
The command wrote: “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Vikings Confraternity and also linked himself to activities involving political thuggery.
“Also, following his confession, the suspect in the early hours of today, 26th October 2025, led SPACS operatives to the armoury of his cult group at Omor, where the above mentioned exhibits were recovered.”
All the recovered exhibits have been documented as evidence, while further investigations aimed at tracking and apprehending other gang members and associates mentioned by the suspect are currently ongoing.
