The Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) has barred the Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, popularly known as 3SC, from playing its league matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
The NPFL said this in a letter written to the management of the football club on Friday, January 30, saying the stadium is no more suitable to host NPFL matches.
The body overseeing football league matches in the country asked the 3SC management to choose an alternative venue between the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State or the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos State.
The NPFL asked the club’s management to convey its decision to it on or before Monday, February 2, failure which the NPFL will have no option but to allocate a venue for the club.
“We wish to inform you that subsequent to the broadcast and television rights entered into by the Nigerian Premier Football League recently, it has become necessary to inform you that the Lekan Salami Stadium is no more suitable to host NPFL matches,” part of the letter reads.
The Adamasingba Stadium has, in recent times, been in a sorry state, as the grasses at the main bowl have become dry and unsuitable for football matches.
