In a significant move to modernize transport infrastructure, the Ogun State government is reconstructing the Ode Junction–Sapade Road (Phase 3), a key 5.5-kilometre section of the 14.3-kilometre Sagamu–Iperu–Ode–Sapade corridor.

Now 60% complete, the project is part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s broader agenda for infrastructural renewal across all regions of the state. Previously plagued by potholes and flooding, the road is being rebuilt as a 14-metre-wide dual carriageway with upgraded drainage, electric pole realignment, road markings, and high-durability asphalt—all to modern engineering standards.

Phases 1 and 2, covering Sagamu to Iperu Junction and Iperu to Ode Junction, were completed earlier by Hitech Construction Company. Phase 3, now underway, connects Ode Junction to Sapade and is being positioned as a strategic economic artery.

The state government reports that the project has already created direct and indirect employment for local residents, contractors, and suppliers. Businesses along the route have seen increased activity, as construction draws new customers and reopens trade links.

Officials say the road’s proximity to Gateway International Airport makes it a vital regional connector. Upon completion, the road is expected to improve transportation, road safety, and reduce vehicle maintenance and flood damage. It will also help reduce dust and emissions, contributing to better air quality.

More than just a road project, the Ode–Sapade reconstruction is seen as a catalyst for trade, connectivity, and improved livelihoods across Ogun State.
