Ahead of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo state, the Independent National Electoral Commission said it has suspended the Continuous Voters Registration.
The State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Rufus Akeju said that the commission has also suspended the issuance of Permanent Voters Cards till end of the governorship election.
He announced this while speaking with journalists in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
While reminding political parties and politicians in the state that political party’s primaries would take place between July 2 and 25, he advised them to live up to expectations.
“Play the game according to the dictate of the extant laws, regulations and guidelines of your political parties to promote democratic values,” he said.
The REC also revealed that the number of registered voters was 1,822,346, while the number of PVCs collected was 1,478,460, while 372, 888 PVCs were uncollected.
