The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday was in a rowdy session as the impeachment process of the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi was initiated.
14 lawmakers have already supported the impeachment move of the Deputy Governor following his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party. Although the allegation leveled against Ajayi borders on gross misconduct, however it may not be unconnected with his move defection to the PDP and his move to contest the October governorship election against Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
On Monday, Ajayi had dragged the Assembly to court over the planed impeachment. He filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to halt the planned impeachment proceeding.
Meanwhile, Akeredolu had sacked all the aides attached to Ajayi’s office while his security details were withdrawn until Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), intervened to restore them.
