One person has been confirmed dead while three others were injured in a fatal accident on the Coastal Highway in Lagos State.

The accident occurred on Friday morning at the section of the highway inward Eko Hotel when the driver of a grey Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) lost control allegedly as a result of excessive speeding.

This resulted in the SUV crashing into a roadside pole and subsequently somersaulted, resulting in the death of one of the occupants of the vehicle while three others were seriously injured.

It was gathered that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who were close to the scene of the accident made frantic efforts to bring out the three injured victims with the assistance of Good Samaritans. They were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Also, the body of the occupant was taken to a mortuary while the vehicle was later removed from the highway to avert the possibility of another accident.

Though the accident caused traffic bottleneck on the road, LASTMA officials and other security agencies made frantic efforts to control traffic situation while a better vehicular movement had been restored along the axis as of the time of this report.
