Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to remain sidelined until the end of September following the ankle injury he sustained while on international duty with Nigeria.
The 26-year-old picked up the knock during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda two weeks ago. Although he managed to walk off the pitch unaided and was initially thought to have suffered only a minor setback, the injury has turned out to be more serious than first feared.
Osimhen left the Super Eagles camp early to receive treatment at Galatasaray but has not featured for the Turkish champions since the international break. He missed last weekend’s league match against Eyupspor as well as Thursday’s 5–1 Champions League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, citing Hurriyet, the striker is set to miss two more Super Lig fixtures – against Konyaspor and Alanyaspor – before returning in time for Galatasaray’s second Champions League group game. That match, a high-profile clash against Liverpool at Rams Park on September 30, is now being targeted for his comeback.
While Galatasaray are expected to cope without him in domestic competition, Osimhen’s presence will be crucial if the Turkish giants are to stand a chance against Arne Slot’s Reds in Europe.
