Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has confirmed that the club is eagerly anticipating the arrival of Victor Osimhen, with the Nigerian striker on the verge of completing a permanent move to Istanbul.
Speaking after Galatasaray’s 3-1 preseason win over Cagliari, Buruk revealed that while he has been experimenting with Barış Alper Yılmaz in a central role, Osimhen remains central to the club’s plans for the new season.
“We’re waiting for Victor Osimhen,” Buruk told reporters. “We want him to arrive as soon as possible, but he’ll also have to undergo training.”
Osimhen, who starred during a loan spell last season with over 40 goal contributions, led Galatasaray to a memorable league and cup double. Despite links to top European clubs, Osimhen has made it clear that he wants to return to Galatasaray, prompting negotiations with Napoli to finalize a permanent deal.
While Saudi side Al-Hilal also made a bid, Osimhen’s preference for Galatasaray has tipped the scales. The transfer is now in its final stages, with an official unveiling expected soon.
Galatasaray have played three preseason matches so far, winning all—Ümraniyespor (5-2), Admira (2-1), and Cagliari (3-1). They face Strasbourg next on Saturday, July 26, but Osimhen is unlikely to feature in that match as final paperwork and training are still pending.
