A mild drama unfolded on Wednesday, the eve of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, as President Bola Tinubu abruptly relocated the venue from the party’s national headquarters at Buhari House to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The decision, announced just hours before the high-level meeting, caught many party stakeholders by surprise, especially as preparations at Buhari House – including the erection of a large tent – had already begun on Tuesday evening.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, cited “logistical reasons” for the last-minute venue change in an official statement. While no further details were provided, the shift fueled speculation among party faithful and political observers about the motive behind moving such a crucial meeting to the presidential seat of power.
In a separate but somber development, the APC also announced the death of Mr. Abraham Olu, a long-serving and respected staff member of the party’s national secretariat. Olu, who passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, was the Organising Officer in the Organising Department.
He joined the APC in 2013 as part of the foundation staff following the merger that formed the party, having previously served in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
The party praised his diligence and commitment, describing him as a resourceful officer who would be deeply missed. Olu, a native of Kogi State, was born on April 4, 1966, and is survived by his wife and children.
