The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning officially declared Accord Party candidate and current governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the governorship election held on Saturday.
INEC Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, made the declaration after announcement of results from across the 30 local government areas of the state.
He said the candidate of the Accord Party polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, who got 444, 815 votes.
“That, Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected,” Professor Ogunwole announced.
