Brazilian football legend, Pele said his recent visit to Sao Paulo’s Hospital Albert Einstein was a routine monthly visit as there should be no concern over his health.

Pele, who celebrated his 82nd birthday in October, thanked fans and 2022 FIFA world Cup host, Qatar for their support.

The Brazilian is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in football history and is the only man to have won the World Cup three times, while he is also one of four players to net in four separate tournaments. He is Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer after netting 77 times in 92 appearances.

Concerns over Pele’s welfare were raised on Tuesday with the football icon reportedly suffering generalised swelling and some cardiac issues. Pele had a tumour removed from his colon in September 2021 and has been receiving regular treatment ever since. He has looked to allay fears over his health telling his followers that his midweek hospital trip was routine.

“Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit,” the 82-year-old wrote on Instagram coupled with a picture of a ‘get well soon’ message from World Cup hosts Qatar. “It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!”
