Popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has revealed the traumatic childhood experience that led him to convert from Islam to Christianity.
Speaking during a candid live session with his followers, Peller opened up about his time at a traditional Quranic school, known locally as ‘Ile Kewu’, where he said he suffered repeated physical abuse.
“I’m not a Muslim. I’m a Christian. I go to church,” he declared. “I was beaten severely when I was young at the Quranic school. That’s why I stopped going.”
What was meant to be a foundation for spiritual learning, he explained, became a place of fear and trauma. According to him, the harsh treatment he endured at a young age created emotional scars that distanced him not just from religious education but from the Islamic faith altogether.
Peller said these experiences ultimately influenced his decision to embrace Christianity, seeking comfort in a space where he felt more spiritually and emotionally secure.
The content creator’s openness about his personal journey has sparked mixed reactions online, with many praising his courage to speak out, while others have expressed concern over the conditions in some Quranic learning environments.
Peller’s story adds to the ongoing conversation around religious upbringing, child protection, and the importance of compassion in faith-based education.
