The Anambra State Police Command says its reinforced patrols and community partnerships have led to the arrest of three suspects in separate operations across the state.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement on Thursday that the breakthroughs were recorded under the enhanced security strategy of Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.
On September 23, a joint team from Achalla Division and the local vigilante arrested two men — Chinwendu Ndieli and Uchenna Offodile — after a stolen Mack truck was found parked near St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Achalla. The suspects allegedly confessed that the vehicle, with registration number T 5003 LA, was stolen from a company in Lagos. The owner has since been contacted to reclaim the truck.
In a related incident the same day, officers from Okpoko Division recovered an abandoned white Toyota Camry along Onitsha–Owerri Road. The car, bearing registration number AWK 91 SR, also contained another plate number, Delta 06A 90 DT, inside. Police say the vehicle is now secured at the station for identification by its rightful owner.
Later that evening, community youths in Ihiala assisted police in apprehending Charles Chiemerie Onuigbo over the alleged abduction of three children aged six, three, and two. According to investigators, Onuigbo and two accomplices — still at large — conspired to abduct the children while they were eating outside their home. Their mother reported the children missing after stepping inside briefly.
Onuigbo, a neighbour of the victims, was reportedly harbouring the other suspects before he was caught by residents. He sustained injuries from mob action before police intervened. The children remain missing as efforts continue to track the fleeing suspects.
Police say investigations are ongoing while counter-terrorism and crime prevention operations remain active across the state.
