Activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, on Monday, October 20, disclosed that he would not be part of any protest that will not attract at least one million people, saying the era of putting his life in danger is over.
Adeyanju disclosed this on his Facebook wall on Monday night apparently reacting to the protest organised by another activist, Omoyele Sowore, at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to demand for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
According to Adeyanju, Nigerians are fond of deceiving people on social media, especially X platform (formerly Twitter) with retweets and leaving ONE alone with bullets on the street.
He added that the same people will turn around to mock the person and say he or she is only chasing clout or even working for the government.
He therefore added that he would only come out to protest if he sees at least one million people who are ready to join, saying that he wished Sowore and others well in their protest journey.
He wrote: “Any protest where one million people are not coming out, I will not join. Nigerians will deceive you online with retweets and leave you alone with bullets on the street.
“They will then turn around to mock you and say you were only chasing clout or you are even working for the government you oppose.
“The era of putting my life in danger is over. I wish Sowore and others well. The only thing I can offer those arrested or wounded in any protest is financial support or legal services.”
