The Kano State Police Command has intercepted suspected intoxicants valued at more than N82 million following a raid in the Rimin Auzinawa area of the state capital.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said in a statement on Saturday that the operation was carried out on September 20, 2025, after officers received credible intelligence about a suspicious vehicle conveying cartons believed to contain illicit substances.
Acting on the directive of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, a team of operatives trailed the vehicle to a residence in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, cordoned off the building, and arrested a 19-year-old suspect identified as Usman Umar.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets containing 60,300 pills, valued at N60.3 million, and 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules with 44,850 pills, valued at N22.4 million. The combined street value of the seized drugs was put at N82.7 million.
The police said the suspect is currently assisting investigations to unravel the wider network behind the trafficking. CP Bakori commended residents of Kano for their vigilance and cooperation, stressing that timely information from the public was critical to the operation’s success.
The Command urged citizens to continue sharing credible intelligence with security agencies, assuring them of confidentiality and swift action.
