President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been awarded the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL) during his recent visit to the Caribbean nation on Monday, June 30.

According to an official statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre, the title was conferred by the Governor General as a mark of recognition for President Tinubu’s leadership and efforts to strengthen ties between Saint Lucia and Africa.

“The Government of Saint Lucia is pleased to announce that the Governor General has conferred the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL) upon H. E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.

In a separate post on X (formerly Twitter), the Saint Lucian government described the Nigerian president’s visit as inspiring, noting that it “brought a sense of pride and promise” and underscored deliberate moves to deepen diplomatic and cultural ties with Nigeria and other African nations.

Saint Lucia, a scenic and culturally vibrant island nation with a population of about 185,000, has in recent years sought to expand its global partnerships, particularly with African states.
