The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE), in collaboration with the American University of Business and Social Sciences (AUBSS), has awarded an Honorary Professorship in Legal Studies to Pastor Johnson Funso Odesola, a senior cleric of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in recognition of his academic excellence and distinguished service to humanity.
Pastor Odesola, who currently serves as the Continental Overseer for Continent 3 of RCCG – covering South-West Nigeria and several countries in the Middle East – is widely respected for his contributions to education, religious leadership, and community development.
With an extraordinary academic profile, Pastor Odesola holds six doctorate degrees, two master’s degrees, and multiple bachelor’s degrees spanning diverse fields such as Civil Engineering, Intercultural Studies, Human Rights, and Commercial Law. He recently earned a Ph.D. in Human Rights Law from the University of Africa in Lusaka, Zambia.
In addition to his academic achievements, Pastor Odesola has spent over 40 years in ministry, during which he has led numerous missionary projects and church expansions both within Nigeria and abroad. A prolific author, he has published more than 100 books, many of which address faith, leadership, social transformation, and personal development.
He is also an accomplished film producer and lecturer, using media and education as tools for evangelism and community engagement.
In recognition of his efforts in promoting community relations and national development, Pastor Odesola was honored by the Nigeria Police Force’s Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) as the South-West Patron in 2021. He was further appointed as Assistant Commissioner of Police (P.S.U.) in 2024.
According to QAHE, the honorary professorship was conferred to acknowledge Pastor Odesola’s “exceptional leadership, scholarly impact, and unwavering commitment to service.”
Speaking on the recognition, QAHE and AUBSS described Pastor Odesola as a “well-rounded individual whose academic pursuits and humanitarian work continue to leave a significant mark across continents.”
The conferment adds another milestone to Pastor Odesola’s storied career and is seen as a strong endorsement of his efforts to bridge faith, education, and societal development.
