Valentine is coming and despite the learning points from the Valentine’s Day of previous years, some singles will still fall into error in the name of love.
To help you stay truly woke in this supposed season of love, I penned the poem below to make you reassess your meaning of love. Read, reflect, and make the needed adjustments to your life, thoughts and relationship.
I love you but…
I’m undecided about the kind of relationship we have.
What I feel for you is similar to what I feel for Bisi, Chioma and Amina.
Keep this in mind whenever you think about me.
I love you but…
I’ve said this one time too many.
Tell, are you as confused as I am about these words?
I love you but…
I wish you’d tell yourself these words and mean it.
Also, stop expecting me to love what you hate about you.
I love you but…
What I do on Valentine’s day is not a proof of my love for you.
Neither does what I don’t do on this acclaimed Lover’s Day.
I love you but…
Will buying you chocolates and flowers cover for my lapses in fidelity?
Or will giving you a diamond ring blot out my insincerity?
I love you but…
I think we got it wrong from the start.
How about we start again by putting the creator of LOVE first?
I love you but…
I acknowledge that I’ve been wasting your time all along.
Please let’s take a break and each observe a man-cleanse.
