The embattled Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has been suspended by the Osun State Traditional Rulers’ Council.
He bagged a six months suspension over an alleged assault of the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Dhikrulahi Akinropo, during a peace meeting last week in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
The council also set up a committee headed by Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun, to further investigate issues involving Oluwo and Obas in Iwo land.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting at Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere, with Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, presiding.
The alleged assault occurred at the office of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Zone 11, in Osogbo.
The alleged assault occurred during a peace meeting summoned by the AIG, Bashir Makama, to settle a land dispute happening in Iwo.
In a press conference, the embattled monarch denied the allegation. He however said there was altercation that nearly resulted in exchange of punches.
