Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, crediting them with rescuing Nigeria from imminent financial collapse.

Speaking at The Platform Nigeria hosted by Pastor Poju Oyemade, Soludo described the economy Tinubu inherited in 2023 as a “standing dead horse,” warning that public finances were on the verge of insolvency.

He commended the administration’s “audacious structural reforms,” stating that they had put Nigeria back on a solvency path and improved macroeconomic fundamentals. Soludo noted that endorsements from global institutions like the World Bank, IMF, Fitch, and Moody’s confirm the positive trajectory, despite his past criticism of such bodies.

Beyond economics, the former Central Bank governor called for a nationwide ethical rebirth. He urged political parties to embrace ideological clarity and challenged commentators to ground their criticisms in rigorous analysis. Soludo warned that transformational leadership cannot thrive in a society that glorifies “magical wealth” and called for legislative, cultural, and educational action to reshape values.

He praised initiatives like the federal NELFUND student loan scheme and Anambra’s One Youth, Two Skills program, urging a national conversation to tackle the erosion of integrity, hard work, and patriotism. “This is a national emergency,” he said.
