Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, on Sunday mourned the death of his senior in the industry, Taiwo Hassan, alias Ogogo, saying he was a true pillar of Yoruba cinema.
Adebayo paid glowing tributes to the veteran actor in a post on his X handle, as he added that he left a legacy that time can never erase.
He wrote: “Sir T. Some people leave behind memories. Some leave behind a legacy that time can never erase.
“Thank you for the years, the stories, the lessons and the moments that made us fall in love with the craft.
“You were a true pillar of Yoruba cinema, and your impact will live on in generations to come.
“Rest well, Sir Taiwo Hassan. You will forever be Ogogo to us.”
Ogogo died on Sunday at the age of 66 during his battle with Stage 4 cancer and will be buried on Monday, August 24, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The news of Ogogo’s death was announced on Sunday evening by his daughter, Kira, during an Instagram Live session. “My daddy is dead. I can’t believe it,” she said.
Ogogo, who was one of the respected figures in the Yoruba movie industry, had been battling stage-four cancer in recent months.
His death came hours after Kira had spoken publicly about the challenges surrounding her father’s illness and accused some individuals of attempting to profit from the family’s difficult situation.
During an emotional TikTok Live session on Saturday, she alleged that some people had approached the family with financial demands while offering assistance with the actor’s treatment.
