Some students who were awarded Federal Government scholarship to pursue courses at institutions of higher learning have expressed anger over the non-payment of the money since 2024.
The Federal Government, through the Federal Scholarship Board, announced the award of the scholarships to the deserving students in August 2024, but two years after the announcement, the students alleged that they had not been paid.
President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Afeez Babatunde Akinteye, while announcing the development on his X handle on Monday, July 20, said he received numerous messages from the affected students lamenting about their plight.
He said: “The volume of complaints has become a serious concern, and I will be engaging the Federal Scholarship Board in the coming days to ascertain the cause of the delay and understand why these scholarship awardees have not been paid.”
He urged all affected awardees to remain calm and patient as he promised that the students body wil engage the relevant authorities and get to the root of this matter.
Some of those who got the scholarships confirmed that the Federal Government has not paid the money for the scholarships.
