Nigeria’s Super Falcons have ramped up preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with two crucial friendlies lined up. First, the team will take on Portugal next week in Lisbon, followed by a clash with Ghana in Morocco—the host nation of this year’s tournament.
These warm-up matches are part of the final build-up before Nigeria opens its WAFCON campaign against Tunisia on July 6 in Casablanca. The Falcons are drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.
Boasting nine WAFCON titles from 12 editions since 1998, the Super Falcons are Africa’s most successful national team. They head to Morocco with one goal: to win a historic 10th title under the “Mission X” campaign.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, reaffirmed support for the team, stating, “We are committed to supporting the Super Falcons fully and want all Nigerians, at home and abroad, to rally behind them.”
He urged fans to bring energy and support as the team competes in Morocco. The Super Falcons last won the title in 2018 and aim to reclaim their crown with solid preparations and a united fan base.
