Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Saturday, reacted to a post written by an impostor which was attributed to her on various social media platforms.
Okonjo-Iweala, who is a former Minister of Finance in Nigeria, said she was amused that the impostor could not even write her name correctly, adding that she was already taking action to get the person.
She said what was attributed to her was posted on Facebook, WhatsApp as well as Instagram, adding that the person that wrote the post should have written the message in his or her own name and not hide behind hers.
In the post entitled: “Trump didn’t hit us, our leaders did,” the impostor wrote the WTO DG’s name as “Dr Ngozi Okonjiwuala,’ and apparently wrote about the threat by President Donald Trump of the United States to take military action against Nigeria over what he described as”Christian genocide.”
In the message, the impostor wrote in passable english: “This isn’t about foreign insults. It’s about failure at home. When leaders spend more time negotiating with bandits and turning killers into talking-head celebrities than putting them behind bars, you know the plan is broken —–or there is no plan at all.
“We worshiped rhetoric; we rewarded impunity. Bandits are invited to table-talks and photo-ops……”
However, Okonjo-Iweala, after reading the post, wrote: “Beware of this story going around on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, it is false! We are taking action! The person who did this could not even spell my name. Whichever coward did this should write the message in their own name and not hide behind mine or anyone else’s! Scammers and 419ers stop!”
