Three men who were said to have been running errands for bandits and their leaders in Katsina State have been apprehended by local security officers.
The Katsina Community Watch Corps (C-Watch) arrested the three men at two separate scenes.
It was gathered that one of those arrested, Isyaku Mohammed, was described as a procurement officer linked to notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu, popularly known as Maha.
The man, who was living among ordinary residents, operated unnoticed while coordinating the purchase of rifles, motorcycles and other supplies for the criminal group.
A source who was in the know of the arrest told Impact Nigeria News Online on Thursday night that during his interrogation, he admitted his alleged role in receiving funds from bandits and arranging the procurement of materials for them.
He was said to have been handed over to men of the state police command for further interrogation into his criminal act.
The community watch corps also arrested two person who were accused of running errands for another notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Maha, and buying weapons and other items for his terror group.
The two men, known simply as Abubakar and Ahmadu, during their interrogation, confessed that they used to buy guns and bullets and take them to the bandit leader after collecting money for the purchase.
Ahmadu further disclosed that he decided to run errands for the bandits because he needed money to feed his family.
They have also been handed to men of the state police command for further interrogation.
In another sad development, a young traveller was on Thursday afternoon killed by bandits along the Dansadau-Gusau road in Zamfara State.
Sources disclosed that the victim was attacked between Maikogo community and Mai Aya community while travelling from Dansadau towards Gusau. He later died from the injuries he sustained.
“His identity remains unknown and efforts are ongoing to trace his family or anyone who may recognise him,” one of the sources said.
