President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned a series of deadly incidents across Nigeria, calling them “unconscionable” and promising swift justice for the victims.
In a statement on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Tinubu expressed sorrow over what he described as a “series of tragic events,” including a suicide bombing in Borno State, the lynching of 12 wedding guests in Plateau, and an industrial explosion in Kano.
“These attacks on innocent lives must not stand,” the President declared, labelling the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno, as a “cowardly act” aimed at spreading fear. The attack, believed to be the work of Boko Haram remnants, has reignited concerns over insecurity in the Northeast.
Tinubu said the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had been directed to provide immediate aid to victims and communities in Borno. He also ordered security agencies to intensify operations against insurgents targeting civilians.
Condemning the “barbaric” killing of 12 travellers in Plateau, Tinubu directed the police and intelligence agencies to apprehend the attackers. He urged state authorities to act decisively to stop intercommunal violence, stating, “Freedom of movement is a non-negotiable right of every Nigerian.”
Addressing the industrial explosion in Kano that killed five people, the President called for a full investigation and stricter workplace safety enforcement.
“As a nation, we grieve together,” Tinubu said, expressing solidarity with affected states and families. “We will not rest until justice is done and peace is restored.”
