Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan delivered a breathtaking performance at the Rabat Diamond League on May 25, 2025, winning the women’s 100m hurdles and setting a new meeting record of 12.45 seconds. The victory marked a strong return to form for the world record holder after a challenging start to the season.
Under clear skies and a favorable +1.2 m/s wind, the 28-year-old stormed ahead of a world-class field, comfortably finishing ahead of Nadine Visser of the Netherlands (12.67s) and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska (12.69s). Her time not only earned her the gold medal but also eclipsed the previous meet record of 12.51 seconds set in 2018, and stands as her season’s best so far.
The result was especially significant for Amusan, who had earlier placed fourth in the Xiamen and Keqiao Diamond League events with times of 12.74 and 12.66 seconds. Combined with Nigeria’s withdrawal from the World Relays, her early 2025 season had offered few bright spots—until now.
The Rabat win sets a powerful tone ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo, where Amusan will defend her title. Her performance reaffirms her elite status and signals that she’s not only back but possibly ready to challenge her own world record.
