The political game plan towards the 2027 general election heightened on Tuesday, June 2, as thirteen members of the House of Representatives defected from their parties to new ones.
Incidentally, six Reps members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State dumped the party on the floor of the lower chamber and defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the party that has just given the state governor, Seyi Makinde, its presidential ticket.
The six House of Representatives members from Oyo State who defected to the APM are Anthony Adebayo, Adedeji Olajide, popularly known as Odidi Omo, Sunday Makanjuola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Fola Oyekunle and Adigun Adekunle.
Other members of the House who defected on Tuesday are Kingsley Chinda, the Minority Leader who defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and resigned from the Minority leader position; Auwalu Gwalabe (Bauchi), from PDP to APM; Shehu Dalhatu (Katsina), from APC to PDP.
Also on the list of defectors were Etanabene Benedict (Delta), who moved from the Labour Party to the PDP; Alex Egbona, from APC to PDP; Esosa Iyawe (Edo), from APC to National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Gbefwi Gaza (Nasarawa), who moved from Social Democratic Party (SDP) to Labour Party.
There are indications that as political realignments continue, more members of the House of Representatives as we as those in the Senate will dump their parties and join new ones.
