The bodies of a man and a woman were found at two different places in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, by men of the state police command.
While the body of the man was found inside a car at the Polo area of the state capital, that of the woman was found inside her room at Shuwari area. Both of them were found on Wednesday, December 3.
According to the state police command, a report was received at GRA Police Division from one Bulama Adam that a body with a slit throat was found inside a green Honda Civic in a lone and isolated area of Modari Polo, Maiduguri.
Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer and his team were said to have proceeded to the scene, cordoned off the area and recovered the body. The corpse was subsequently taken to State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where it was deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the body and vehicle had been at the location for over 24 hours. An ATM card and vehicle particulars bearing the name Muhammed Ibrahim Saje, later confirmed to be that of the victim, were recovered at the scene. The case is still under investigation,” the command said.
In the second incident, a report was received at ITE Police Division from one Amos Ibrahim that around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, his friend’s wife, Rifkatu Yohanna, was found inside her room in a pool of blood with her throat slit.
Upon receipt of the report, detectives were immediately mobilised to the scene, and the lady was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where she was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner and her corpse deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
“In the course of investigation, one suspect, Salisu Mohammed Nura (also known as Aliyas Amir), was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody, while investigations continue,” the command added.
The state police command has been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups, including bandits, terrorists, armed robbers, among others, terrorising and killing residents of the state. Some of those arrested had been charged to courts.
