Two officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are currently in critical conditions after they were attacked by a mob when their team raided a notorious drug joint in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The two officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, sustained severe injuries following the attack on them during a raid on the drug joint in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Friday, May 15.
Following the attack, they were rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Chairman of the agency, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd), on Monday, May 25, paid them a visit where he assured them that the agency would take full responsibility for their welfare, ensuring they receive the highest standard of medical care until they are fully recovered and back on their feet.
He also vowed that the agency would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for the attack are arrested and brought to justice.

“An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa stated.
“To further motivate the officers and recognise their heroism, the NDLEA boss’ visit was backed by the immediate roll-out of incentives including the presentation of official Letters of Commendation personally signed by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, alongside other support packages to aid their swift recovery,” a statement by the agency said on Tuesday.
