It was the end of the road for two young men described as ‘serial robbers ‘ who used to brandish knives to attack ladies in their homes and dispossess them of their valuables as they have been arrested by men of the Bauchi State Police Command.
The command announced the arrest in a statement on Tuesday morning, giving their names as Abdulmalik Ismail and Abubakar Saleh, aged 20 years and they were arrested by the operatives attached to the C Divisional Headquarters, Bauchi metropolis.
It was gathered that their arrest followed a report lodged by one of the female victims at the police station that Abdulmalik broke into her house at Nursing Quarters, Muda Lawal area, Bauchi by scaling the fence, went to the kitchen, picked up a knife and attempted to rob her.
She added that she raised an alarm, which attracted neighbours who pursued and apprehended him while fleeing from the scene.
The command wrote: “Upon a search, one Redmi mobile phone was recovered in his possession. Further investigation revealed that the phone had earlier been robbed from its owner when the same teenager allegedly invaded her house while armed with a knife and carted away the said mobile phone.
It was also gathered that during his interrogation, he confessed to the crime and mentioned Abubakar Saleh as his accomplice. Saleh was subsequently arrested and he also confessed to his involvement in the robbery operation.
They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
