The United States Embassy in Nigeria has reiterated that the safety and security of the U.S. remain central to its visa application and decision-making process.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the Embassy explained that all prospective applicants undergo rigorous screening designed to create a safe and welcoming environment for legitimate travelers.
“The safety and security of the United States is at the heart of every #USVisa application and decision process. That’s why prospective applicants undergo careful screening to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all. These measures help protect American citizens and communities while supporting secure and responsible travel,” the Embassy stated.
The post underscores the U.S. government’s commitment to balancing national security interests with the facilitation of lawful travel, as thousands of Nigerians continue to apply for U.S. visas annually for education, business, tourism, and family visits.
The Embassy also urged prospective applicants to ensure transparency and honesty during the process, stressing that strict security protocols are in place to detect fraud or misrepresentation.
The clarification comes amid growing interest in U.S. visa applications from Nigerians seeking travel opportunities, with the Embassy assuring that while procedures remain stringent, genuine applicants are welcome.
