The suspended chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, has reported himself to the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja. Onnoghen as understood has voluntarily presented himself at the tribunal against the warrant order issued for his arrest by the tribunal chairman, Danladi Umar last Wednesday.
At the proceeding, Onnoghen who was docked pleaded not guilty to all six counts charges leveled against him bordering on his non declaration of some of his assets. He was subsequently granted bail on self-recognition. The CCT thereafter adjourned the trial to March 11, 2019 for hearing on all pending applications.
The chairman of the tribunal however granted the request of the Onnoghen’s counsels for a discharge of bench warrant order issued for the arrest of client.
Onnoghen is being tried on the allegation that he refused to declare his assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by law for public office holders in Nigeria.
