UPP adopts Buhari as Presidential Candidate

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Mohammadu Buhari has been adopted by the United Progressive Party (UPP) for the 2019 general elections.

According to report, the UPP on Tuesday, made it known that its national working committee (NWC) took to the decision to endorse Buhari as its presidential candidate in 2019 after the assessmentof all options.

ChekwasOkorie, the national chairman of party, said the president’s sense of morality was among the reasonsthat were looked at before arriving at a conclusion.

“After a painstaking evaluation of all the options and in consideration of the sincerity, uprightness and credibility of President Buhari, which he has brought to bear in his approach to governance for the past three and half years, the NWC of the party acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee after extensive consultations with all stakeholders in the party wish to announce to the Nigerian public that President Buhari has been endorsed and adopted as our presidential candidate for the 2019 president election, “ he said.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that the policy document by its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar comprises of a communal framework that acknowledge the views, intensity and aspirations of Nigerians in their pursuit for a better life and country.

According to a statement by the national publicity secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbodiyan, “the Atiku Abubakar’s policy document offers solutions and practical direction for delivery in all sectors of our national life.”

He however accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari of failing, “to articulate any solutions or operable policy direction in his procured and pedestrian “Next Level” document.”
