Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, June 2, gave details of how its men checked one of the phones of four members of the dreaded cult group, Aiye Confraternity and saw videos of people that were killed by them.
The command said this shortly after the arrest of the men it described as “hitmen” of the dreaded cult group at a hotel in Ajamgbadi, Ojo Local Government Area of the state.
The hitmen, whose names were given as Emmanuel Nwokolo, aged 35 years; Ayoola Israel, aged 39 years; Ebuka Nnamdi, aged 31 years and Chinedu Okafor, aged 22 years, were arrested following credible intelligence received by the command and during the arrest, three pistols and 13 live cartridges were recovered from them.
They were said to have engaged in cultism, violent crimes and other criminal activities and were hitmen of the cult group linked to various killings in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo and its environs.
During their interrogation, the men confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted to being responsible for terrorising residents through a series of killings and other violent crimes.
“Preliminary investigation revealed disturbing evidence of the suspects’ involvement in violent criminal activities. Some videos from one of the suspects’ mobile phones showed the killing of unidentified persons within Ajanmgbadi and surrounding communities.
“Investigation is ongoing to establish the full extent of their involvement in other criminal cases, identify additional members of the gang and apprehend all accomplices” the command said in a statement on Tuesday, June 2.
They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for more investigation and they will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
