The Catholic Pontiff, Pope Leo, on Sunday, February 8, expressed sorrow and concern over the recent killings carried out in some parts of Nigeria.
The Pope disclosed this in a post on his verified X handle, while urging competent authorities to ensure safety and protection of the lives of every citizen.
Terrorists attacked Kaiama in Kwara State, Benue State and other areas in the North during the past week, killing more than 200 persons and this attracted global outrage.
The head of the Catholic worldwide, while speaking on the various killings, said he would continue to pray for all the victims of violence and terrorism in Nigeria.
He wrote: “It is with sorrow and concern that I learned of the recent attacks against various communities in Nigeria leading to a heavy loss of life.
“I express my prayerful closeness to all the victims of violence and terrorism. I likewise hope that the competent authorities will continue to work with determination to ensure the safety and protection of the life of every citizen.”
