The Federal Government has dismissed a social media report that said it directed nationwide closure of schools effective November 24, 2025, saying the report is false and misleading.
Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said such a directive did not emanate from the ministry.
The Federal Government on Friday ordered the closure of 41 FG-owned Unity Schools it said are located in high-risk areas in view of the rising cases of abductions of school children in Niger and Kebbi States.
The ministry advised the public to rely strictly on verified information issued through the official channels of the Federal Government, Federal Ministry of Education, state governments and state ministries of education and recognised security agencies.
“Any announcement, advisory, or notice coming from unofficial or unverified sources should be ignored and not shared.
“Members of the public are urged to always verify the authenticity of information before circulating it in order to curb the spread of misinformation,” the statement added.
