President Donald Trump of the United States on Sunday, April 5, disclosed that the US troops that rescued a pilot in Iran spent seven hours over the country in broad daylight.
Trump stated this on his Truth Social while giving more updates on the rescue of two US pilots whose fighter jets were shot down during attacks launched against Iran.
Trump had earlier on Sunday said that his country sent dozens of aircraft armed with the most lethal weapons in the world to rescue a fighter jet pilot deep inside Iran which he described as enemy’s territory.
He said the US military successfully rescue of the second F-15E Strike Eagle crew member (a Colonel and weapons systems officer) from Iran early on Sunday.
He added that the rescue came in addition to a successful rescue of another brave pilot on Saturday which the authorities did not confirm in order not to jeopardise the second but deadlier rescue operation.
However, while giving more updates on what he described as “a daring operation, Trump said it was an amazing show of bravery.
He said: “We have rescued the seriously wounded and really brave F-15 crew member/officer from deep inside the mountains of Iran.
“The Iranian military was looking hard, in big numbers and getting close. He is a highly respected Colonel. This type of raid is seldom attempted because of the danger to man and equipment. It just doesn’t happen.
“The second raid came after the first one, where we rescued the pilot in broad daylight, also unusual, spending seven hours over Iran. An amazing show of bravery and talent by all.”
