The Department of State Services (DSS), on Tuesday, November 4, gave reasons for dismissing 115 of its personnel.

According to a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the DSS said the dismissal of the personnel was part of ongoing internal reforms aimed at maintaining discipline and integrity within the agency.

The statement added that the action followed an internal review process, adding that the names and identities of the dismissed personnel have now been published on its official website.

The DSS warned members of the public against engaging in any official dealings with any of the dismissed personnel, saying some of them have continued to pose as DSS officers.

The Service also drew attention to earlier disclaimers issued on Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were among those dismissed and are allegedly still impersonating DSS operatives for fraudulent purposes.

The DSS had on October 15 announced on its official X handle that it had apprehended Barry Donald and Victor Onyekachi Godwin, and would be made to face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The security agency reiterated its commitment to professionalism and urged citizens to report suspicious activities through its official helpline or email.

The statement read, “As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service.

“For clarity, the identities of the affected persons have been published on the website of the Service.”
