The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has fixed May 23 to pick its presidential candidate.
The faction also announced that a week earlier, May 16, the primaries to pick governorship candidates will be held across the states.
These decisions, among others, were announced shortly after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on March 11.
According to the faction, the presidential primary will hold on May 23 at a venue yet to be announced.
Other decisions reached included state assembly primaries to hold on May 2, National Assembly primaries on May 9, while also saying its national convention will still hold on March 29 and 30 in Abuja to elect new national officers.
According to the faction, the NEC meeting followed a Court of Appeal ruling on March 9 that confirmed Wike’s caretaker committee as the legitimate leadership after months of PDP crisis and the national convention held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
