A lady has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command at the scene where a minibus, popularly known as Korope, used for criminal activities in Lagos State was repainted at a town in Ogun State.
The lady, Khadijat Azeez, was arrested last Sunday inside a bush in Omu Ijebu around 4:00 p.m. by the operatives attached to the Omu Ijebu Divisional Headquarters of the command while three male accomplices fled on sighting police operatives.
It was gathered that the operatives received information that three men and a woman were sighted in a bush along Ikhasi Road, Kajola area of Omu, repainting a Suzuki minibus that had no number plate.
Acting swiftly on the information, the operatives mobilised to the scene and on sighting them, the male accomplices fled in different directions while the lady was arrested inside the vehicle.
During investigation, the vehicle was found to be originally yellow in colour, which is the colour of Lagos commercial vehicles, before it was repainted in white and blue in an attempt to conceal its identity.
Further investigation indicated that the minibus was used to perpetrate criminal activities in Lagos State, prompting the suspects to repaint the vehicle in a bid to evade detection.
“The vehicle was recovered and secured at the station for safekeeping. It was identified as bearing a Lagos State number plate.
“A search of the scene led to the recovery of three handsets, one power bank, one paint can, one sandpaper, and one charging cord, all belonging to the fleeing suspects,” the command wrote in a statement on Tuesday, April 21.
The command added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and necessary prosecution.
