A woman who was arrested by men of the Niger State Police Command after she was found with three stolen children has told the operatives that she was taking them from Niger State to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to take care of them.
The command announced her arrest in a statement on Thursday afternoon, as it added that the woman, Victoria Chukwumezie, aged 40 years, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Gawu-Babangida Divisional Headquarters of the command.
It was gathered that the operatives, stationed at the Dikko Junction, intercepted the woman on November 5 around 5:30 p.m. with the three children while she was about to take them away.
The command wrote: “The police operatives of Gawu-Babangida Division stationed at Diko junction quickly moved in and arrested the woman and during interrogation, she stated that she took the children, who are of two to three age range, from Lambata and she was taking them to Abuja for care.”
The children were rescued and their parents have been contacted while the woman has given more useful information to the operatives to aid investigation.
