A total of 1,198 special bullets as well as AK-47 rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered at the hideout of a bandit during raid on his hideout by soldiers in Plateau State.
The Nigerian Army announced the recovery on its Facebook page on Sunday night, as it said troops of Joint Task Force codenamed Operation ENDURING PEACE, raided the hideout of the bandit at Rawaya Village close to Kazok in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It was gathered that the bandit fled his hideout shortly before the soldiers, who acted following intelligence reports gathered, arrived at the hideout.
The Nigerian Army wrote: “However, a search at the hideout led to the discovery of two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, four AK-47 magazines, three G3 rifle magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62 mm (NATO) ammunition, three mobile phones, and other items.”
It was also gathered that the recovered items are in custody for further action while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing bandit and his collaborators.
The Nigerian Army has launched consistent raids on hideouts of terrorists and bandits, especially in the North-West and North-Central parts of the country, arresting and neutralising some of them.
Many high-grade weapons have also been recovered from some of these bandits and terrorists.
