It was the end of the road for a 20-year-old young man said to be a drug dealer who was arrested along with others during raids carried out by men of the Jigawa State Police Command at various hideouts in the state.

During the raids, about 4,658 quantities of various types of hard drugs were reportedly recovered from their hideouts.

The 20-year-old man, whose name was given as Mutari Shua’ibu, was arrested with 10 others during what the state police command described as “coordinated intelligence-led raids” carried out across some local government areas known as hideouts of drug dealers.

The drug dealers were arrested at places such as Guri, Gumel, Sara, Shuwarin, Sundimina, Kazaure, M/Madori, Ringim, B/Kudu, and K/Hausa towns in the state.

The command wrote: “During the operations, the suspects were found in possession of 4,658 wraps and quantities of illicit drugs of various kinds, suspected to be hard drugs, which were intended for distribution within the communities.

“The exhibits have since been recovered and recorded as evidence.”

They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives while the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation while some of them had been charged to court and remanded in prison custody.

The state police command has been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups, including armed robbers, bandits, drug dealers, terrorists, among others, terrorising residents of the state. Some of those arrested had been charged to courts in the state.
