A housewife whose husband was shot dead a month ago has given birth to a set of twins and she is currently in a state of confusion regarding what the future holds for her and the new babies.
Bandits were said to have invaded Dawakawa village in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and killed Bala Gushi, the husband of the woman, Hauwa, who was heavily pregnant.
However, a month after the killing of the man, Hauwa gave birth to the set of twins and the young widow as well as her newborn twins and four other children are living in extreme hardship following the killing of the family’s breadwinner.
A competent source close to the community told Impact Nigeria News Online on Sunday, January 18, that as of the time of this report, the children have not been named, as the family lacks the financial means to perform the naming ceremony.
It was also gathered that some family members and others in the community who could have come to the aid of the young widow fled the village when the bandits launched the dawn attack.
“The situation of the widow and the children is dire. They lack basic necessities such as food, and their living space offers little protection from harsh weather, leaving them exposed to wind and rain,” the source disclosed.
The Northern part of the country, especially the North-West, has been under the grips of bandits for some time as they unleash terror on various communities, killing residents and abducting others.
In some communities, the bandits forced residents to agree to “peace deals” whereby levies are imposed on residents in order to ensure peace is guaranteed. However, many times, such “peace deals” are violated by the bandits.
