Eight miscreants who specialised in snatching people’s phones and were arrested on the Mile 2 pedestrian bridge on Thursday morning have been sentenced to six months imprisonment each.
They were sentenced by the Magistrates’ Court in Bolade, Oshodi, on Thursday afternoon as they pleaded guilty after they were brought before the court on a one count charge of stealing.
They had earlier on Thursday morning been arrested by men of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as KAI, following information received about their nefarious activities.
Their names were given as.Anthony Osinachi (aged 21 years), Victor Onuoha (45 years), Rowland Ede (25 years), Daniel Chisom (aged 24), Emmanuel Chukwu (35 years), Ogbonnaya Uchechi (18 years), Godday Eke (28 years) and Benjamin Glorious (30 years).
They were sentenced by the magistrate without an option of fine.
The state government has been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups, including miscreants, hoodlums, robbers, cultists, among others, terrorising residents of various parts of the state.
Some of them used to attack residents on plying pedestrian bridges, especially early in the morning and late at night, dispossessing them of their valuables.
