A custom officer has been killed and another injured by unknown gunmen while on patrol at Kyarama village in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Police spokesman, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident stating that it occurred yesterday at about 4:30am while the custom officers were on patrol.
According to report, the unidentified individuals allegedly disguised as informants and placed a call to the custom officers informing them of a car that smuggled rice along the road.
On reaching the location, the gunmen were said to have opened fire on the victims.
Jinjiri explained that one of the officers was shot dead, while the other one was critically injured by bullets shots.
He also said the gunmen made away with two of their serviceable rifles.
However, he said efforts have been put into ensuring that the offenders are arrested.
