The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State is experiencing a remarkable surge in membership, with thousands of Nigerians reportedly joining the party in recent weeks.
According to Mabel Oboh, the party’s Director of Communications in Lagos, the response to its grassroots mobilisation has been both “tremendous and overwhelming.” She disclosed in a statement that local government chairpersons across the state are working diligently to update registers as the influx of new members continues.
“Our Local Government Area Chairpersons are working tirelessly to update the party registers with the new members, and we are thrilled to see such enthusiasm and interest in our party’s ideology and vision for Lagos,” Oboh said.
The growth, she explained, reflects a strong appetite for an alternative political option among Lagos residents. “The ADC is seen as a fresh and viable option, and people are eager to be part of a party that prioritises the interests of the public,” she added.
George Ashiru, Chairman of the ADC in Lagos State, also confirmed the upsurge in membership, noting that reports from local government chairpersons indicate significant progress across all wards. “Our message of inclusivity, progress, and good governance is resonating with the people of Lagos, and we take pride in the number of Nigerians joining our family,” Ashiru stated.
Ashiru further described the party’s growing strength as evidence of its relevance in Nigeria’s evolving political space. “We are not surprised by this response, given our commitment to good governance and people-centric policies. The ADC is steadily becoming a significant force in Nigerian politics,” he said.
Oboh emphasised that the party’s grassroots campaign is driving much of the momentum, as many individuals dissatisfied with the current political environment are turning to the ADC as a credible alternative.
“With its vision for a ‘Global Lagos’ and dedication to good governance, the party is poised to make a lasting impact on the state’s political landscape,” she declared.
The ADC leadership in Lagos has expressed confidence that the party’s continued expansion will position it as a formidable player ahead of future elections, reinforcing its message of inclusivity and progressive governance.
