After going through gruelling and inhumane conditions in the hands of kidnappers, two men took a daring move, escaped from the kidnappers den and were rescued by soldiers while finding their way in the forest.
The two escaped victims, Temitope Samuel and Mohammed Sani, were rescued by troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), North Central, codenamed Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD (OPSS), deployed at Patrol Base, Baba Sango, in Kwara State.
They were rescued on June 3 inside the Baba Sango forest, a notorious hideout of bandits and kidnappers which sits on the border between Kwara, Ekiti, Kogi and Niger states.
It was gathered that during an aggressive patrol, the troops encountered and secured the victims who had daringly escaped their captors’ custody.
According to the Nigerian Army in a statement on Saturday, June 6, the rescued individuals were immediately taken into protective custody by the troops.
Both men have been transferred to Patrol Base, Babanla, where they are receiving comprehensive medical care, psychological support and all necessary assistance while arrangements are in full swing to reunite them with their families.
