The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has given the sum of N50,000 each to 33,461 applicants who wrote the Computer Based Test (CBT) mandatory for employment into the state civil service.
The governor announced this on his social media handles on Friday, December 5, saying the money was “transport and lunch allowance.”
The governor wrote: “To all 33,461 applicants who took the CBT exam, I have approved ₦50,000 as transport and lunch allowance for each of you. Thank you for taking part in this recruitment process and for believing in our commitment to fairness and opportunity for all.”
The CBT examination was conducted this week for the applicants shortlisted out of the over 40,000 job seekers that applied for the civil service job.
It was gathered that as soon as the applicants finished the examination, they were told to wait and thereafter the government official inform them about the money to their excitement.
They were said to have eventually written down their account details before leaving the state secretariat venue of the examination.
According to information, out of the 33,461 applicants that sat for the CBT, 4,000 will eventually be employed by the state government in March 2026.
Reports also said out of the 33,461 candidates that took the CBT, 12,502 scored between 50% and 90% and they are to face oral interviews expected to be held in January 2026.
